  • Please let the teacher know of any physical challenges you have.
  • For your first class, we will ask you to sign a waiver and provide contact information.
  • Questions are encouraged – please wait for the teacher to ask if there are questions, before asking questions.
  • Thank you for not taking pictures or videos or eating during class.
  • If you feel tired, you are welcome to sit in a chair and watch.
Salute to begin and end class

  • The students give the same salute with left palm and right fist and respond “Laoshi hao” which translates as “teacher hello” (lao shr how)
  • To end class, the teacher gives the same salute and says tongxuemen zaijian” which translates as “goodbye class” (tong shoo-ay men zai jien).
  • The class responds “Laoshi zaijian”, translates as “goodbye teacher” (lao shr zai jien).
    More on Classes

  • Our classes generally overlap different levels of skill.
  • Tai Chi requires memorization, practice and understanding - please be patient.
  • Bad Weather and class cancellations – the teacher will send out an email and or text approximately two hours before class making announcement.
  • Should you not be comfortable driving in inclement weather, please make an appropriate decision for yourself and if you do not feel safe, please stay at home.

Located in Winchester, VA her school was the site of “A Taste of China” for 25 years bringing together many Taiji and Qi Gong teachers from all over the world and motivating many students such as myself. I studied with Pat Rice for many years and am a better student and instructor because of her.

Roger is a dedicated student and teacher of Qi Gong having passed Dr Yang Jwing Ming course of study. We met in Boston many years ago at a seminar at Dr. Yang Jwing Seminar on Qi Gong. Roger has excellent assistant teachers some of whom I have trained in Tai Chi. Qi Elements has several classes three days every week. His center is one of the places I teach. I am grateful for his help.

DC Tai Chi
Teacher – Nick Gracenin

Nick Gracenin is one of the most accomplished teachers I know and offers classes in Chevy Chase, MD, and Washington DC near the National Cathedral. Coach Nick is a fountain of knowledge on many forms of internal martial arts. I have not studied with him in a formal class but every workshop I took from him was simple incredible. His methods of teaching are terrific and watching him perform Sword is an event to behold.
